The Altenew Educator Certification Program is an online course all about card-making (and other media) using some of your favourite Altenew products.
Signing Up
I had heard about the AECP program through Instagram and some of the many crafters and talented cardmakers I follow on that platform. The idea of taking online courses in the craft I love, using many of the products I adore, seemed really appealing. So appealing, in fact, that I signed up almost straight away.
I submitted my application form in early March 2020 and two weeks later I was in. So here goes…let the learning commence.
Course List and Requirements
The course list is fairly extensive, with around ten courses per stage – each with approximately ten lessons per course. It isn’t overwhelming though. In fact, your AECP course administrator is quick to tell us when we join that the pace of the learning is entirely up to us. We can take a month, or a year. Or longer if we like.
Each of the courses focuses on a specific aspect of using the Altenew products, beginning with two courses called ‘All About Layering’. Not only are they fun to work through but they give you a great insight into some of the products you’ll be using throughout the AECP Program.
You really do need to use Altenew products as much as possible to complete these lessons. They don’t seem to be overly strict if you incorporate other products into your homework pieces (yes, you’ll get homework too). But as long as your focus is on Altenew stamps and dies they don’t mind if you’re using a different brand of, say, inks for example. Personally, I found it was a great excuse to start increasing my stash of Altenew goodies…not that I needed one to be honest!
